Well, I had a very productive week. Got the top braced and voiced and glued on. Flush trimmed the body, and now its time for the binding. I'm hoping to finish by mid-May. Enjoy!

Tracy,

Looking good. Interesting bracing - you could have a game of chess on the top while you close up the box

I like X braced backs on these instruments, I really think it helps the projection.

Thanks all for the nice comments! I'm really looking forward to finishing this so I can learn to play it. If all goes well, I should be ready for the finish at the end of April. Dave, why wait to build one, start now and beat the rush

That looks interesting, and quite different from mine...that's a good thing. <G> One of these days I'll make a guitar-shaped one, I already have all the molds I need to do it. I've made a couple of "papoose" sized guitars, and that size would be perfect for a bouzouki, too.
Dave, C'mon! Jump in the bouzouki lake! the water's fine.

Josh,
It's Cedar. Mark, thanks about the lattice bracing. I'm just following Graham McDonalds suggestion. I have no idea how to voice a bouzouki top, so I followed his suggestion to get it in the F# range before gluing on the sides. After it is bound and the top edge thinned, it should ring at about C#. Right now it is at a D#, so I have a ways to go to bring it down. I just hope thinning the edge down .5mm around the lower bout will take it down enough. I'll keep you all updated. Thanks for looking!
